Dear Student, I hope this letter finds you all well, I know the last few months have been incredibly difficult for you all. Can I start by congratulating you all for the amazing resilience you shown, I have heard from your tutors that despite the lockdown you have all been producing some amazing coursework. Your creativity has been outstanding and seeing the participation by some of you in the live lessons and of those of you that have come on site, the determination to do well and push through is a testament to the amazing young people that you all are.
That’s why I am incredibly excited to let you know that I can now open up the doors to the new academy to you all. We have been given permission by the government to return to onsite classes once we have carried out the COVID testing, during the week of the 8th March. All of the staff here have missed you all and we can’t wait for you all to return and enjoy this amazing space.
So we can settle you all the week of the 8th March will be an induction week, with each class coming in to be tested with staggered start times. The days and times for each group are below will be given to you by your tutor in an emailed letter.
The day will consist of a designated time to have your COVID test, a tour of the new building and time with your tutor to catch up with your class and hear about the plans for the coming weeks. My previous letter gave you more details about the COVID testing and we will also go over the process with you when you come in. Please note we expect all students to take a test as we want to be proactive in managing the site during the pandemic. You will carry out the test yourself, under supervision and will be notified of the results within 30mins of the test being completed. If you are unable to carry out a test due to a medical condition, please notify your tutor on arrival.
You will still have online lessons next week for the days your not in and your tutor will send you information on this.
The academy will still be operating under our COVID risk assessment so we will expect students, staff and visitors to comply with wearing masks in all corridors and communal spaces and classrooms. Please make use of the hand sanitiser when you enter the site and also use it when around the building. Social distancing must still be followed and all one way systems will be explained to you as a part of the induction.
Please note that from 8th March students will not be allowed to bring take away food on site. We will have the canteen open which will serve hot and cold food and sandwiches. This is to encourage healthy eating and for more students to stay on site during breaks and lunchtimes.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all, hearing the buzz of creativity around the building and spending some time with you all.
See you soon!
