BCE’s Music Performance course enables you to develop your writing and performance skills with experienced industry professionals, building on your own personal and social identity as a successful recording artist/musician, whilst focusing on writing, composing and arranging songs for recording and performing.
You will consider and question the social and cultural contexts of music performance, understanding recording contracts and generating revenue. You will also be introduced to music and performance in a professional setting, learning the skills required to create great music and launch your career.

Entry Requirements Level 3: 5 GCSEs at grade 4-9 including English (or equivalent)
This course is for people with a huge passion for performing, writing and composing music. It is for students who are looking to make a living out of their artistry and who want to learn the skills and know-how to become freelancers within the music industry. You will learn techniques in how to write, compose and structure industry standard songs, as well as how to record professional material, leading to an EP with the support of an engineer. You will learn how to stand out and engage an audience as a performer, and how to select songs appropriately for events, leading to a performance of at least 15 minutes. Entry Requirements Level 2: 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English (or equivalent)
This Level 1 diploma will provide an introduction to music performance. This course is designed for anyone who is interested in pursuing a career as a confident, well-rounded and self- sufficient performer in the music industry. This introductory course will equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to progress to further education or employment within the creative industries. You will explore:

The Big Creative Training music department is so much more than a college music department. The tutors all come from industry backgrounds and bring their skills and experience to support our young artists and producers to develop and showcase their talent. Many of our former students have gone on to achieve industry success building on the skills and knowledge they developed with BCT’s artist development.
Big Creative Training Limited (BCT) is an independent training provider based in Walthamstow. BCT opened in 2000 and offers creative industries programmes for 16 to 19, apprenticeships, adult courses and alternative provision. BCT is rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in all areas.
Big Creative Academy (BCA) is a 16 to 19 academy based in Walthamstow. The academy opened in September 2014 and offers study programmes for students aged 16 to 19 in subjects to prepare them primarily for further study or employment in the creative industries. BCA is rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted
Teachers have very good subject knowledge and industrial experience, as well as strong commercial links with practitioners and employers; they use these effectively to help inspire students and provide a strongly vocational context to their development.
All staff work closely with students to help them overcome any barriers to learning, to assure their health and welfare, to maintain good behaviour and a positive work ethic; as a result, students feel safe and are able to achieve their potential.
