”Joshua Alexander Williams studied Performing Arts at Big Creative Education before going on to build a successful career as an actor. Since leaving BCE, he has performed as Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, won the Black British Theatre Award for Best Supporting Male Actor in a Play, and appeared in award-winning productions including Animal Farm at Leeds Playhouse and One Way Out at Brixton House. He is also set to appear in the world premiere of Bloodsport: After Helen of Troy by award-winning playwright Ava Pickett. Joshua credits BCE with giving him the confidence, skills and support to pursue opportunities and take his first steps into the creative industries.
”Jack studied Art & Design at Big Creative Education before progressing to Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, where he expanded his understanding of contemporary art and explored creative practices beyond traditional painting and drawing. During his time at BCE, Jack developed his artistic style through work experience in a photography studio and by experimenting in the college's photography facilities, helping him discover the surrealist approach that informs his work today. Taking part in exhibitions at BCE also gave him valuable experience in curating and presenting artwork, preparing him for public exhibitions later in his studies. Alongside his degree, Jack is now a Tate Collective Producer, helping make galleries and the arts more accessible to young people, and works with UAL Insights to support aspiring creative students. His journey highlights how BCE can provide the foundation for further study, creative exploration and opportunities within leading cultural institutions.
”Since I’ve left BCE a lot has happened- I’ve just finished my BA degree in interior Architecture and Spatial Design and got a graduate design job in an Architectual/ Design firm. I also draw hyper-realistic portraits on the side.
A lot of skills I’ve learnt studying Fashion at BCE really helped me when I was in university. The work experience that was offered to me like London Fashion Week, Etta Bond video shoot, it was the beginning of my creative career.
”I am a youth activist, film maker, social entrepreneur and run a company called Aviard Inspires. I studied Events and Music Management at BCE. I really benefited from studying at BCE. What I loved the most is it allowed me to be an individual and allowed us to be creative and to flourish, I feel like the teachers and mentors knew how to spot that greatness in people.
”I have made a lot of good connections with the staff through the time I spent at BCE, and I keep in contact with them now. I do not know any other place that has as many creative courses and options as BCE does.
While on my apprenticeship I met my tutor called Natalie and I really connected with her as she was a woman of colour and from East London like myself. Natalie is the founder of Small Green Shoots where I then went on to be employed and that was simply because of the connections BCE gave me.
