Working at BCA
The team at Big Creative Academy all work together to provide the best education possible for our learners.
Many of our students are from disadvantaged backgrounds and have low GCSE entry scores but their talent shines through. Student support and safeguarding is integral to our offer, underpinned by a focus on wellbeing and equality. We all put in extra effort to raise students’ aspirations, and the reward is all the greater. You’ll be part of a team who wake up and want to come to work, striving for excellence, supporting each other and the students, to be outstanding
Our values are incredibly important to us:
Kindness – Respect – Inclusivity – Authenticity – Integrity
Students take a vocational subject to develop their skills and hone their talent. Whether it’s music, art and design, performing arts or sports, the courses are project based so that learners respond to a brief, refine their processes and evaluate their work. This replicates the creative arts sector

Teaching is outstanding at Big Creative Academy which translates into better outcomes for learners. We use a professional insight matrix rather than a static observation process. This helps us to identify strengths in teaching, and you can pursue your interests in pedagogy. We want you to keep developing as a practitioner.
Wellbeing is huge at the Academy and students have a class a week as part of their own personal development. The creative arts is a competitive sector which requires drive and motivation and we prepare learners for this.
Wellbeing is highly valued by the students as an opportunity to discuss hot topics and how they’re feeling in a calm and relaxed environment.
The majority of both teaching and support staff are dual practitioners and work in the industry alongside their position at the Academy. It provides for great credibility with the students. We also have employer ambassadors for each curriculum area who work with the students on live briefs.
Careers are embedded throughout the curriculum, coaching the students to achieve their ambitions.
They leave us with professional portfolios and career plans ready to make it in the real world.
”All staff work closely with students to help them overcome any barriers to learning, to assure their health and welfare, to maintain good behaviour and a positive work ethic; as a result, students feel safe and are able to achieve their potential. - OfstedBig Creative Academy was rated “good” by Ofsted at our last inspection
We are an employer which champions equality, diversity, and inclusion. We work with integrity and passion, and are fiercely committed to creating a truly meaningful work environment, where individuals are empowered with the tools, technology, and training to unleash their full potential.
