This course is designed for young people with a passion for clothes, design, fabrics and style. Learn about the fashion industry from industry experts and discover how this global multi-billion-pound industry works.
BCE Fashion Design students will have the opportunity to develop their skills and understanding of the fashion industry. Level 3 students will gain industry insight, theory and practical skills to develop an industry-ready portfolio.
The Fashion course has been designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to progress to a degree-level study and skilled employment or apprenticeship. While on the course, learners will have an opportunity to collaborate through workshops with other subject areas including Media, Music and Drama as well as industry-led projects.
As part of the course, you will be introduced to a range of industrial equipment, you will develop skills in a wide range of areas including research, drawing development, computer-aided design (CAD), pattern cutting and garment construction, design and illustration. You will learn how to use industrial sewing machines, industrial steam irons, overlocking machines and a brand-new digital embroidery machine.
Qualification: UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practices
Fashion students starting this course will be in a new custom-designed block with specialist equipment, called Fashion Future. |
Entry Requirements Level 3: 5 GCSEs at grades 4-9 including English (or equivalent)

Big Creative Training Limited (BCT) is an independent training provider based in Walthamstow. BCT opened in 2000 and offers creative industries programmes for 16 to 19, apprenticeships, adult courses and alternative provision. BCT is rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in all areas.
Big Creative Academy (BCA) is a 16 to 19 academy based in Walthamstow. The academy opened in September 2014 and offers study programmes for students aged 16 to 19 in subjects to prepare them primarily for further study or employment in the creative industries. BCA is rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted
Teachers have very good subject knowledge and industrial experience, as well as strong commercial links with practitioners and employers; they use these effectively to help inspire students and provide a strongly vocational context to their development.
All staff work closely with students to help them overcome any barriers to learning, to assure their health and welfare, to maintain good behaviour and a positive work ethic; as a result, students feel safe and are able to achieve their potential.
