What T Level subjects are available?

T Levels are a new type of qualification introduced by the Government, but they’re a little bit different from apprenticeships and other types of courses for young people. Schools and colleges have worked in collaboration with employers to develop these T Level courses, so they include all the necessary industry skills you’ll need to break into a career in the chosen field or progress to further study. 

T Levels include a lot of time for on-the-job experience, giving students a real taste of the industry and their chosen careers, but there are lots to choose from. That’s why we’ve prepared this handy guide to T Level subjects. Let’s dive in!

 

Business and Administration

Management and Administration

This course is designed for anyone interested in a career in management and administration. On the course, you’ll get an overview of how a business operates from a management and administration perspective, and you’ll learn about all the roles and responsibilities within a business and how they work together. There are loads of roles and opportunities available after completing this T Level, such as supervisor, secretary, clerk and office manager to name but a few.

 

Construction

Building Services Engineering for Construction

This course is perfect for you if you want to kick off your career in construction, especially if you’re interested in things like electrical installation, plumbing, and other trades in the building services industry. You’ll learn about health and safety, building regulations, construction methods and, more importantly, the business of building services – vital for anyone wanting to start their own business one day.

 

Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction

Like the other construction courses, this is a great way to get your foot in the door with the construction industry. However, this course focuses more on surveying and civil engineering. Surveying is a strong field to get into at the moment, and this course will equip you with the skills you need to launch your career in the field. 

 

Onsite Construction

This T Level is best suited for anyone who wants to learn more about vital, in-demand construction trades like bricklaying, carpentry, plastering and more. Like the other courses, you’ll learn about health and safety onsite, building regulations and construction methods, but you’ll also get hands on with a specific trade on the work placement part of the course.

Digital Business Services

On this course, you’ll focus on the IT part of business, looking closely at IT software and how businesses use them, data analysis tools and project management solutions. It’s a thriving industry, so this will be a really popular course, perfect for anyone who wants to go into IT and data analysis or business intelligence.

 

Digital Production, Design and Development

This varied course will introduce you to software design and development, leading to exciting roles in web development, software development and games design, where you’ll learn all there is to know about planning, testing and coding software. 

 

Digital Support Services

If you’re interested in digital infrastructure and IT support, this technical qualification might be one for you. It can lead to numerous career options, including pathways in security and support for IT, among many others. If you’ve got a knack for computers and information technology, then you’ll be able to get to grips with the career on this course.

 

Engineering and Manufacturing

Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing

This T Level has been designed specifically for people who want to learn more about design in an engineering and manufacturing environment, such as CAD and 3D printing. This is a growing field with loads of career opportunities at the moment, where you’ll be able to put into practise your mathematics and engineering skills. 

 

Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing

Another highly technical T Level with lots of scope for in-demand career development, this course is best suited for people who are interested in hands-on, detailed work, like a technician or a mechanic. You’ll learn a lot about engineering and manufacturing, and the work placement will give you the opportunity to hone your skills.   

 

Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control

Another highly technical course, this qualification is suited to those who want to explore a career in engineering and manufacturing, with a particular focus on craftworking. Students can go into aerospace, nautical engineering, smithing and much more in this varied, enriching and detailed T Level course. 

 

Education and Childcare

Education and Childcare

If you’re looking for a career in early years education or childcare, then this is the course for you. Students can progress onto roles like nursery worker, teaching assistant, playworker, mentor, special education needs teacher, and much more. You’ll learn loads about the education sector and child development, as well as how to safeguard young children.

Health and Science

Health

If you’re interested in frontline healthcare, this T Level is a great way to get experience in the industry. You’ll learn all about the roles in healthcare, and you progress through this course to further education or careers as a care worker, dental nurse, ambulance assistant and more. 

 

Healthcare Science

If you’re more interested in the behind-the-scenes work our healthcare workers do, such as radiography, this T Level can help launch your career in healthcare science, specialising in things like human anatomy and physiology, diseases and disorders, genomics and medical physics.

 

Science

Of course, science is a very broad subject encompassing loads of disciplines, but this course will help you narrow down your interests and develop a career in a scientific field before you take the leap to further education or a placement. The course will teach you about scientific methodology, ethics, pathogens, scientific analysis, and much more.

 

Legal, Finance and Accounting

Accounting

Accounting is a vital part of almost every imaginable sector, so this T Level can open doors to near enough any industry that uses accounting. If you’re particularly interested in finance and administration, this could be the best way to kick-start your career in financial accounting.  

 

Finance

This is a little different to the accounting T Level as it looks closely at things like insurance, mortgages, pensions, credit and other financial services. You’ll learn about tax, financial law, business principles and business mathematics.
