One of our talented students at Big Creative Academy recently had the incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the prestigious Sadler’s Wells Theatre while working on the production of Swan Lake. During this work experience, the student had the unique chance to shadow a costume designer, immersing themselves in the world of professional theatre production.
Under the guidance of the costume designer, the student learned the intricate process of designing, creating, and fitting costumes for a world-class production. From the concept stage to the final touches, they gained a deep understanding of how the costumes contribute to the storytelling and overall aesthetic of the performance. This experience was not just about observing—it was about actively engaging with the creative process, learning industry-standard techniques, and understanding the level of detail and craftsmanship required to bring a production of this magnitude to life.
The student was able to witness the fast-paced, collaborative environment of a top-tier theatre, working alongside a talented team of designers, technicians, and performers. They also had the opportunity to see Swan Lake come to life on stage, watching the costumes and designs they had been part of directly contribute to the magic of the performance.
