Big Creative Academy Supports #Blacklivesmatter

Big Creative Academy Principal Sacha Corcoran

A message from the Principal

Dear students,

I wanted to talk to you all about the recent events that have unfolded in America and the racism we sadly still see in this country.

I can only imagine the pain that some of you must have felt seeing the murder of George Floyd captured by a young woman not much older than all of you. In 2020 this should not be happening.

After so much oppression for black people that has included years of slavery and years of civil rights movements it is unbelievable that we are still fighting this fight.

For black people to still be suffering from police brutality, discrimination and inequality is unacceptable.

I wanted to let you know that I stand with you all in fighting this, and making the world you all live in a better place. At the academy we celebrate and thrive on diversity. We celebrate you all and champion the talent you all possess.

The Big Creative Academy supports #blacklivesmatters and I know all of you regardless of colour support it too. We do not tolerate any discrimination whether it be colour, gender or sexuality and I’m proud of how we all support and love each other.

We through our wellbeing program will continue to discuss, debate and challenge the world we live in. We will stand united in our love of creativity and we will not ignore the injustice and discrimination that some of you sadly face.

Your young lives matter, your black lives matter and your futures matter. When we return to the academy we will come together and look at how we can through creativity capture this moment in time and be the voices of change.

I love you all, stay safe, stay well and if any of you need to talk I’m here for you.

Best wishes
