London’s newest Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ) is here! Launched on 23 March 2023, The Blackhorse Collective is home to 550 businesses one of which is Big Creative Education. We are delighted to be working in partnership with our local creative businesses to develop access into the industry for our talented students.
We were delighted to host London’s Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, Justine Simons OBE and Cllr Grace Williams, Leader of Waltham Forest Council as part of the official launch event. Students gave some outstanding dance and spoken word performances showcasing their creative talent.
Cllr Grace Williams said: “Creativity is everywhere in Waltham Forest, and nowhere is it easier to see than in Blackhorse Lane.
“Everywhere you turn there’s a creative business or collective of artists doing something inventive and extraordinary, and this creativity is what Blackhorse Lane stands for. I’m so happy that Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, and Justine Simons OBE, Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, have seen this and named Blackhorse Lane as a Creative Enterprise Zone.”
The Blackhorse Collective is one of nine CEZs across the capital and it will connect creative businesses to the local workforce through apprenticeship schemes, pathways to work and public skills sessions. BCE students have incredible businesses on their doorstep to inspire them and learn from.
We are pleased to announce grant funding from the Local London Careers Hub East to develop open days for students to visit local businesses. It’s the first step in building relationships and introducing the industry to our amazing students. Anyone wishing to be involved should contact Victoria Spence, Director of Careers and Partnerships.
