Hygiene Amnesty
As part of our Wellbeing and SDP lessons, our students and staff have come together to create a Toiletry Amnesty. This initiative allows students to access essential toiletries, free from judgment, and ensures everyone has what they need to feel their best.
Big Sleep Out
For one night students and staff will be swapping the comfort of their beds for a sleeping bag on the ground – all to raise a targeted £3000 for Centre Point, a charity dedicated to tackling youth homelessness. The Big Sleep Out is not about replicating rough sleeping but rather about raising awareness and crucial funds to help young people without a safe place to call home.
LGBTQ+ History Month
This week in our wellbeing lessons, we celebrated LGBTQ+ History Month by exploring the powerful journey of the LGBTQ+ community. Our students reflected on milestones like the Stonewall Riots and the fight for same-sex marriage rights, realising just how recent these changes have been.
Holocaust Memorial Day
27th January 2025 marks 80 years since Auschwitz was liberated we remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and the countless victims of the Nazis. We spoke with Frankie, our LGBTQIA+ advocate, who shared important data regarding the Holocaust and the many marginalised groups that were affected.
Big Black Breakfast
At BCE, we proudly celebrated Black History Month with our vibrant Big Black Breakfast, bringing students and staff together to honour Black culture, heritage, and community. From enjoying delicious traditional breakfast dishes to sharing stories and exploring the incredible contributions of Black individuals throughout history, it was a morning filled with connection, reflection, and celebration.
Culture Day
At BCE, every day is a chance to learn, grow and connect with cultures from all over the world. Our annual Culture Day is a vibrant celebration of the diverse backgrounds, traditions, and talents that make up our community. From incredible performances to a culture walk. Culture Day is a day to celebrate what makes us truly global.
