ON ROAD – Junior Designer Apprentice

About the role

This position is ideal for an upcoming junior creative designer with either ~1 year of professional or informal experience creating content or working on personal creative projects. You will be working in a young, dynamic, vibrant environment, and will want to make a meaningful contribution within a small team. We’re looking for someone who’s confident enough to take ownership of tasks and manage their own projects, while also being open to guidance and feedback as they develop. You should be passionate about design, social media and storytelling through multiple mediums, from presentations and branding to short-form video and photography.

This is a great opportunity for a recent university or college graduate who already has a strong creative foundation, is eager to learn and wants to gain hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary environment.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Social Media
  • Support the social media team with content ideas and creation across platforms
  • Help manage ON ROAD’s social channels, ensuring visuals and tone align with our brand identity

Film:

  • Assist with capturing and editing video content, including interviews, focus groups and research films
  • Conduct visual research and editing for film and creative outputs

Design:

  • Design presentations for internal use, client meetings and pitches on Keynote / Google Slides
  • Support in creating visual assets for various projects — from short clips and animations to still graphics and photography
  • Maintain brand consistency across all touchpoints and deliverables

Annual leave: 15 days + 8 days public holidays & 1 week all staff wellness week

Training to be provided

  • Level 3 Content Creator
  • In-house mentoring

 

Personal Qualities

  • Good understanding of, and love for, social media platforms, content formats, and trends
  • Strong visual eye for layout, typography and design composition
  • Ability to work independently, take feedback constructively, and meet deadlines

Skills Required

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Photoshop, Premiere Pro required, with an understanding of Illustrator
  • InDesign, After Effects are nice to have
  • Basic video editing knowledge on Premiere Pro (or similar)
  • Knowledge of Google Suite (Slides, Spreadsheets, Docs)
  • Confident in photography and videography – able to shoot, light and frame simple setups
  • A recent graduate in design, media, or a related field
  • A team player – collaboration and open feedback is important!
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of visual storytelling
  • Interested in culture, people and the world around you

Qualifications Required

You’ll need a good level of English and a strong foundation in design skills. Formal qualifications like GCSEs are helpful but not essential, we’re more interested in your creativity, experience and potential.

Things to Consider

The apprenticeship programme and your employment are fully integrated. You will be expected to show strong commitment to both your job role and your training. While the majority of your time will be spent working at ON ROAD, a dedicated part of your contracted hours will be set aside for training towards your accreditation.
